    Wiring a Flood Light

Electrical Question: I wanted to eliminate a sensor from my outdoor floodlamps. Sensor was part of lamp #1, and lamp #2 worked when #1 was on.

    Lost Part Power Flood Light

    Bill asks:
I wanted to eliminate a sensor from my outdoor floodlamps.
Sensor was part of lamp #1, and lamp #2 worked when #1 was on.
    The feed to #1 is 14 3.
Red wire was connected to the sensor, and the black and white were connected to the lamp socket.
I tested the red wire and the neutral and found no current, so I capped the red wire and used only the black and white when installing the new lamp assembly without sensor.
Now #1 works, but #2 does not.
Only a black and a white wire go to #2, and the switch box also has only black and white.
    How can this be rectified?

    Amanda asks:
The electric company has replaced two faulty, electrical meters on our house within 28 days of each other.
    On 9 1 n now 10 1.
Both, same right wire read 10.
Caused 1 2 house to lose power both times (1st time our tv quit working the day after).
How common is it for electric company equipment to be faulty twice in such short time span?

All wiring inside house, all breakers, panel box, etc is good (no issues).
Should we request electric company to investigate issue?

Or would you consider this a fluke?

    Wiring a Ceiling Light

Electrical Question: I am a fairly competent diyer but. My son removed a flourescent light in the kitchen.

    How to Wire Ceiling Light

    David asks:
I am a fairly competent DIYer BUT.
My son removed a flourescent light in the kitchen.
In doing so, he removed the connectors off of the wires in the junction box thinking the light was a standard Black to black, white to white.

The light worked but it is always on.
I can diagnose it as far as knowing there is a switch loop in the junction box.
BUT there are no markings on the white wire designating which wire gets bundled with black wires.
Essentially I have a ceiling box with 4 black wires and 4 white wires and I need to determine which of those white wires is traveling to the light switch.
As far as tools go I have a tone chaser combo, multimeter, and a touchless voltage tester.
But I cant work it out in my head how to determine which of the 4 white wires is going to the switch.
