Wiring a GFCI Outlet
Electrical Question: I have 2 outdoor receptacles. One near the front door, one near the back door.
Circuit Breaker GFCI Outlet
Deborah asks:
I have 2 outdoor receptacles. One near the front door, one near the back door. They are covered by clear plastic covers. The one near the back door (on my back patio), has 2 lights. One green, one red. The red light is flashing. The green light is on solid. Any ideas?
No doubt it is a GFCI protected reset. Do you suspect it needs a reset button pushed?
Or perhaps tripping the Circuit Breaker off and on again?
No rush, Ill not be trying anything soon as it is approx. 12dF here right now!
It is possible, I suppose, that it could be an AFCI. not sure that I know the difference. This townhouse was built in 2018, so it is only 4 years old. I do not currently need to use that receptacle, I just noticed the flashing red light as I was peering out back looking for deer, after dark. No telling how long it has been flashing.
Additional Comments: Very nice that you share your knowledge and skills with folks!!

Wiring a Main Panel
Electrical Question: I am trying to figure out if my breaker is to blame for tripping so often as of late. Last week it started to trip with roughly the same load for the past year (2022).
Tripping Breaker Main Panel
Christopher asks:
I am trying to figure out if my Breaker is to blame for tripping so often as of late. Last week it started to trip with roughly the same load for the past year (2022). I reset it multiple times with varying loads by disconnecting whatever appliance power strip hooked up usually but it trips even with nothing attached. Whats even more perplexing is it sometimes holds for a couple of hours and other times a couple of minutes, rarely it trips immediately. Now whenever I reset that breaker, the relevant outlets have no power so I suspect the breaker just went bad overtime.
