Light Switch Access for a Bathroom
[ad#block]Electrical Question: In new home construction what is the code for locating a light switch in a small half bathroom? I was always under the impression that it would be against code to require someone to enter an enclosed dark bathroom to access the light switch. Doesn’t the light switch have to be on the outside of the room or just inside the room within arms length?
Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your electrical question Joe.
How to Locate and Wire a Bathroom Light Switch
- The bathroom light switch must be located just inside the door opening on the wall.
- If the bathroom light switch is located outside the bathroom then someone would be able to turn off the light while the bathroom is occupied, and that would not be very safe.
