Electrical Outlet Replacement and Splicing Wires
[ad#block]Electrical Question: I’m changing 3 power outlets, the first had one white one black & one ground. not a problem. The second had two black two white two grounds a little tricky. The third one had 3 white & 3 black 3 grounds
I CAN’T FIGURE HOW THE 3 WORK. THE OUTLET HAS 2 SCREWS EACH
SIDE and ONE GROUND. ONE HOLE on THE BACK each side how do I connect the 3rd wire?

How to Splice Electrical Wires for an Outlet
Pigtail Splicing Electrical Wires
- Wires of the same color should be tested or verified to determine the function of the wire within the electrical circuit.
- When the outlet has more than one wire of each color, and the outlet is not a switched outlet, then it is best to make a pigtail splice where all the wires of the same color are spliced into a connector and one pigtail wire is added and is connected to the outlet.
- This is the best method because it prevents the load of the circuit from passing through the outlet, which can lead to problems.
