Guidelines for Installing Telephone Wires and Cable
Because the communication wiring is low voltage the installation is not restricted to many of the NEC codes which apply to electrical circuit wiring, however care should be taken during the installation process so the wiring is protected and kept secure.
How to Install Telephone Cable Close to Electrical Wiring
- Preventing Signal Noise
To avoid signal disturbances on voice or cables it is necessary to use a few precautions. - Spacing Telephone Wire Away from Electrical Cables
When installing non-shielded telephone wire near electrical cables such as Romex, there should be at least a 12 inch space between the cables when they are running parallel to each other. - Telephone Cables
It it best to install cables in the neighboring stud bay when possible. If these two types of cables cross each other it should not produce line interference.
