Identifying Electrical Diagram Symbols
Electrical symbols are used to identify the various components that are used when installing electrical circuits and electrical devices. These electrical symbols are shown on electrical drawings, circuit layouts, and construction blueprints. You will notice that some symbols have a basic design with added markings that will represent additional components that are in the same category. Such is the case for the symbol for electrical outlets, where there are 120 volt outlets, 240 volt outlets, switched outlets and more. These electrical diagram symbols are used exclusively with automated or computer assisted design software programs that are used by architects and design engineers for various construction projects as well as electrical and electronic circuit design.
