Opportunities Within The Electrical Trade
[ad#block]Electrical Training Question: How Can I Get the Training to be a Licensed Electrician or Journeyman Electrician?
- I already have a degree in Electronic Engineering and around my area there are no real opportunities to further my job search, hence now I work for a local retail hardware store.
- I have been reading some of your articles and you consider an apprenticeship an ideal way to develop electrical training and skills and knowledge.
- Alas, I am 49 years old so an apprenticeship is way out of the question. The Electrical situation down here near Galveston, TX is pretty good so I would like to get involved.
- How do I get to be a Licensed Electrician or Journeyman Electrician etc.? I do believe my knowledge is already way out for college but obviously I need the paperwork before anybody will employ me or I can start up on my own.
Background: Alan, a Handyman from Texas City, Texas.
Additional Comments: Only just discovered the website but at first impressions it is one that I shall be returning to time and time again.

Training to Become an Electrician
There are many areas within the electrical trade, therefore there are a variety of opportunities available if one will focus on obtaining the proper training and hands on experience.
How to Get Electrical Training and Hands On Experience in the Electrical Trade
- Alan, there may be a position for you within an existing electrical company that may not require you to be a working electrician although that would not be out of the question, it would just require a lot of hands-on experience before the title could be obtained.
- I would also suggest to locate the local Habitat for Humanity organization in your area and get involved with one of their home building projects. This will be a blessing to a local family and an opportunity to meet other trades people in your area who may have an opportunity for you as well.
