Extending Off The Line Side of a GFI Outlet
Electrical Question: I purchased a wine cooler, Frigidaire LFWC18T6LB, which would not turn on.
- Reading the troubleshooting section of the manual I find that it cannot work on a GFCI circuit.
- Upon investigation I find that the circuit appears to be wired by the feed through method.
- When the wine cooler is plugged in the GFCI outlet across the room is tripped.
- Can I disable a single outlet to allow the wine cooler to operate?

How to Extend Electrical Wiring to a Single Outlet From a GFI
Application: Adding a 120 Volt Outlet.
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate. This electrical repair project is best performed by a Licensed Electrical Contractor or Certified Electrician.
Tools Required: Basic Electricians Pouch Hand Tools and a Voltage Tester.
Estimated Time: Depends on personal level experience, ability to work with tools and the number of outlets that will be added and the access to the location for the new outlets.
Precaution: Identify the existing outlet circuit power source, turn it OFF and Tag it with a Note before working with the wiring.
Notice: Installing additional outlet wiring should be done through the local building authority, installed according to applicable local and national electrical codes, with a permit, and have the required inspections.

- Yes you can wire off the Line Side of the GFCI Outlet and extend the wiring to the wine cooler.
