Wiring a Bathroom Exhaust Fan
Electrical Question: I have a Fantech inline exhaust fan, I want to wire separate switches in two bathrooms to control the same exhaust fan.
How to Wire a Inline Bathroom Exhaust Fan
Tony asks:
I purchased a Fantech PB270L10 2 Bath Fan w 2x LED to exhaust two separate bathrooms.
On a dedicated circuit, I want the wiring such that if someone in bathroom #1 turns the fan on (note, it will exhaust both bathrooms simultaneously) I don’t want someone entering bathroom #2 to hit the fan switch and turn the fan off this is my problem with using 3 way switches.
However, if both switches are in the off position, the fan will be off.
I have done tons of internet searching and a few blogs have said to use single pole switches wired in parallel so that either bathroom switch can turn the fan on, but no one can turn the fan off accidentally while someone is still using the other bathroom.
Is this safe and up to code.
I am attaching a hand drawing of the circuit that I want to wire the grounds are not shown in the drawing.
Additional Comments: Lots of useful information for the novice such as myself.
