Electrical Tip

The Safest Way to Test Electrical Devices and Identify Electric Wiring!

The Non-Contact Electrical Tester
This is a testing tool that I have had in my personal electrical tool pouch for years, and is the first test tool I grab to help identify electrical wiring. It is a Non-contact tester, [amazon.com], I use for the detection of Standard Voltage in Cables, Cords, Circuit Breakers, Lighting Fixtures, Switches, Outlets and Wires. Simply insert the end of the tester into an outlet, lamp socket, or hold the end of the tester against the wire you wish to test. Very handy and easy to use.

Can EV load pose serious harmonic problem to Utility System? If yes, how can such problem be predicted?

    • Dave Rongey says:

      Hello Abdullahi Amoo,
I do not believe that a EV load will pose a serious harmonic problem to the utility system as long as the EV system has been installed properly and the EV unit is a quality product that has been manufactured by a reputable company. Each electrical utility system produces various levels of harmonics due to the nature of our current conventional electrical power generation and distribution systems. Levels of EMF may be reduced by using earth grounding techniques, shielding methods and power conditioning devices. Power quality and harmonics may be detected and monitored using EMF meters.
