Testing an Electrical Circuit for a Pump Motor
[ad#block]Electrical Question: There is no electrical power to a sprinkler pump.
- Here are the steps that I have taken:
- The pump partially ran for a few seconds and then stopped, I repeated with same results.
- Changed starting capacitor, same results and then pump stopped working.
- I bypassed the timer and hooked directly to pump, pump did not work, I put in new pump and it did not work.
- I changed circuit breaker.
- Still no power to pump. Just one 220Volt on the circuit.
What else can I try?

Testing an Electric Motor Circuit
- John I would recommend that you start from the pump.
- Test for both legs of power of the motor circuit (you mentioned that this is a 220 volt pump) .
- Work you way back towards the controls and power source or electrical panel.
- It sounds like you lost one of the power legs of the motor circuit.
- Also, make sure you have 220 volts at the circuit breaker at the electric panel.
