Electrical Troubleshooting for a GFCI Circuit
Background: John, a Homeowner from Sacramento, CA
[ad#block]Question: I have a GFCI outlet in the garage that protects all the outlets in the garage, bathrooms and outside. It trips 4-6 time a week, usually at night. We can always reset the circuit after a fault. This has happened even with all devices unplugged. This has been happening since we purchased the house in Jan 2010 but now happens with increased frequency. The house was in foreclosure with the power cut for a number of months prior to purchase, and no information is available from the previous owner.
What technique can I use to isolate the location or cause of the ground fault in this circuit?
