Kitchen Electrical Wiring Safety
[ad#block]Electrical Question: We recently had our kitchen remodeled. I just got done doing dishes and was cleaning the sink. When I went to push some left over food particles down the garbage disposal I got zapped. Not like the static electricity kind, kinda like the pins and needles kind. I did this twice to make sure and sure enough it happened again. Both times the water was running.
I then tried putting some stuff in it and touch all around it (near the black rubber parts) same places as before and nothing. So its only when water is running is the garbage disposal giving off this shock.
I was hoping you can shed a little light on this for me. I am now a frantic mess thinking my house will catch on fire! Please help!

Kitchen Garbage Disposal Wiring
Erika, this is a serious safety issue and I would encourage you to contact the remodeling contractor or the electrical contractor who installed the electrical wiring and have them come back and check their work and perform electrical tests to identify the problem.
Possible Causes of Electrical Zap and Electric Shock
- A Faulty or the lack of a Ground Source, or an open ground within the home electrical system.
- Reverse Polarity or wrong wiring connections of the electrical wires.
- Damaged Electrical Insulation where live electricity is making contact with metal parts.
