Electrical Question from Brian about Ceiling Fan Wiring
[ad#block]Question: I have a yellow red and black wire coming out of the ceiling, and a black blue and white wire on the fan, what colors go where?

Dave’s Reply:
Thanks for your electrical question.
Hi Brian – Could you please provide me with the Make and Model of your ceiling fan?
These are the typical wiring connections for ceiling fans:
House White Wire to the Ceiling Fan White – This is the Neutral Wire.
House Black Wire to the the Ceiling Fan Black – This is for the Fan Motor.
House Bare or Green Wire to the Ceiling Fan Green(s) – These are the Ground Wires.
(Optional) House Red Wire to the Ceiling Fan Blue – This is for the Ceiling Fan Lighting. If the home has the red wire installed it will provide for a separate light switch or a dimmer switch to be used only if the lamps in the ceiling fan are rated for dimming. Check for comparability.
