Electrical Question: What type of power cord do I need for my new stackable 120volt dryer to plug into a regular 110volt socket?
Wiring a Clothes Dryer

- I have owed this vacation condo unit for 20 years. the building was built in 1974 and I purchased the unit in 2001. When I purchased the unit, it had all the original electric GE appliances (avocado green)! refrigerator, dishwasher, sink garbage disposal, range, stacked compact washer & dryer. It was owned by a little old lady that used the unit 1-3 months out of the year and never rented it. All the appliances worked perfectly. Since I too used it 1-2 months per year I felt no need to replace them.
- Now fast forward 20 years from my purchase and 47 years since the condo was built. the frig and dishwasher went up about 3 years ago so I bought new ones as well as a new garbage disposal. the range, washer and dryer still work great. My wife and I are getting ready to retire and have decided to remodel the unit completely, from flooring to the kitchen and are replacing the final 3 appliances (as well as all the kitchen cabinetry). the washer and dryer are both 120v and plug into a regular 110 outlet which leads to a single 20 amp breaker. The range and the washer is not a problem they are 120v.
- Now my problem: Most dryers now are 220/240v and have these bigger 3 or 4 prongs that are at an angle and cannot fit into the regular 110 outlet. after extensive research I have discovered that there are dryers still being made with 120v! the problem is that the specs of these dryers do not have a power cord included with the unit, thus I have to find one. The unit I am thinking of purchasing is the following:
Dryer: insignia model # ns-fdre44w1 look at the specs 120volt ventless dryer, with no power cord supplied. I need 120v power cord to plug into a regular 110v socket.

Clothes Dryer Problem
- Apostolos, from the information you have provided, the Insignia model # ns-fdre44w1 does not come with an appliance cord, and the specifications describe a 10amp 120volt electrical specification. However it would be best to install a 20amp 120volt rated appliance cord which should work just fine for this clothes dryer.
- The appliance cord should be available from several sources online, or from your local hardware stores.
