How an Electrical Circuit is Installed for a Stack Washer and Dryer
[ad#block]Electrical Question: I had my washing machine looked at and the repair man said that the washing machine was not receiving enough power to one of its receptacles. Its a new washing machine in an old house. Its an over & under machine and when I swap receptacles the washer works but not dryer and vice versa. I would appreciate any suggestions.

- Timothy, typically an over and under machine or stack washer and dryer will require a separate circuit for each of the units. The electrical circuit specifications will be stated on the equipment name plate, the make and model sticker, or the installation manual that came with the stack washer and dryer units.
- The type and size of the circuit will depend if the dryer is all electric or if the heat will be provided from an external gas source. It may be that with older home the electrical circuits are shared and therefore will not provide enough power for the stack washer or dryer units.
