Problem when Wiring a Outlet in a Basement

This electrical wiring project is about a 50Amp Breaker and Outlet in the Basement of a Old Home.

GFCI Breaker Trips after Installing the Outlet

Michael, From what you have described, the first thing to check is to make sure the connections have been made to the right terminals on the outlet. Next, make sure the wiring connections to the outlet are secure and that no part of the wiring or terminal connections come into contact with any part of the box. Also, make sure the mounting screws of the outlet are not hitting or penetrating any electrical wires inside the box, and there are no pinched wires between the outlet and the box. When the breaker trips off, there may be signs of arcing, so look for this which will give you a clear indication of where the problem is.
