How to Install a the Right Kind of Dimmer Switch

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate.
Tools Required: Basic Electricians Pouch Hand Tools and Voltage Tester.
Estimated Time: Depends on personal level experience and ability to work with tools.
Precaution: Identify the light circuit, turn it OFF and Tag it with a Note before working with the wiring.
Notice: Installing additional fixture wiring should be done with a permit and be inspected.

From the information that you have provided, the two switches are 3-way switches, and yes, a standard dimmer switch can be installed at one switch location if the lamps in the light fixtures are compatible with the dimmer switch that you purchase, such as incandescent lamps.
Dimmers and light bulb instructions should contain their compatibility statement.
