Electrical Question from Lester about a 240 Volt Air Conditioner Circuit
Background: Lester, a Homeowner from Belleville, Michigan
[ad#block]Question: My air conditioner circuit breaker keeps tripping. Could the red and black wires be reversed? What is the correct orientation of the wires.
Dave’s Reply:
Thanks for your electrical question Lester. No the wires are not reversed. With a home 240 volt circuit either configuration works. If the circuit is tripping off then the problem needs to be identified. Have a Air Conditioning Service Technician come out and check the unit. The compressor unit should be checked. The AC technician will connect their gauges and check refrigerant levels and use a clamp on amp meter to check the amperage load of the unit.
