What Size Wire Should be Used for 3-Way Switches
Question: Can I use 14 gauge wire for the switch/traveler run with a 3 way switch? The circuit is 12 gauge. Thanks.

Al, no – the gauge of the wiring that is being added to the existing electrical wiring must match the existing wire gauge. The circuit wiring integrity must be maintained to prevent any hazardous conditions.
