How to Replace a Kitchen Light Switch

Single Pole Switch Wiring Diagrams

Application: Replacing a Kitchen Light Switch
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate – Best performed by a Licensed Electrician.
Tools Required: Basic Electricians Pouch Hand Tools and a Voltage Tester.
Estimated Time: Depends on personal level experience and ability to work with tools.
Precaution: Identify the light circuit, turn it OFF and  Tag it with a Note before working with the light switch wiring.
Notice: Installing additional light circuit wiring should be done according to local and national electrical codes with a permit and be inspected.

SAFETY NOTE:
If the electrical switch or junction box has an outlet or other devices in the same box, then be aware that the electrical power for these devices may be on a different circuit, so I is best to identify these circuits and turn them OFF as well.
