- I have to splice wiring between the joists for additional lights.
- I do not want to use a junction box and avoid having an access panel.
- Can you tell me what are approved residential in wall splices and who the manufacturers are?

Preparations for Making an Electrical Wire Splice
- Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced.
- Tools Required: Basic Electricians Pouch Hand Tools and Voltage Tester.
- Estimated Time: Depends on the personal level experience and ability to work with tools and access to the wiring.
- Precaution: Identify the circuit, turn it OFF and then Tag it with a Note before performing any wiring.
- Notice: Installing additional electrical wiring should be done according to local and national electrical codes with a permit and inspected.
- Special Materials: Properly sized wire connectors, anti-corrosion ointment, electrical tape, junction box and blank cover.
How to Splice Wires of an Electric Circuit
- Electrical wiring splice must be madeĀ in an approved junction box, enclosure or container.
- The junction box must have a cover installed and must not be left open.
- The electrical junction box or wiring enclosure must be installed in an area that is accessible.
- Electrical wiring splices must be made with approved electrical connectors, for the type of wire, the wire gauges and number of wires being spliced together.
