Electrical Question from John about Installing an Electrical Wire to a Ground Clamp
Background: John, a Other from Fargo, ND
[ad#block]Question: I have a vacuum wire feed through with a 2/0 gauge wire connected using a grounding clamp, pictured here http://electrical.hardwarestore.com/14-electrical-fittings.aspx. I need to attach a 4/0 gauge wire with a set screw lug connector, pictured here http://www.mcmaster.com/#set-screw-lugs/=7kr5ms. The current bolt is too long to use for both at the same time and my boss wants something that will be an elegant solution.
I want to cut the bolt to the proper length and he is afraid of both arching and the appearance of the apparatus. How would you attach these pieces taking into consideration the fragile nature of the feed through and the torque that will be applied?
Dave’s Reply:
Thanks for your electrical question John. I believe you need a more substantial clamp. The Ground Clamp link below may provide a better selection.
