Standard Telephones and Digital Phone Jack Wiring
Question: Here’s a goofy question- I just moved into a new house (to me). Got digital phone via cable. If I plug a standard phone into the supplied modem, all is good, phone works. NOW- If I take a standard phone (RJ-11) cable from the modem to a wall plate, I thought that I would be able to use phones elsewhere in the house by plugging them into wall jacks. I get dial tone, but they will not ring on an incoming call! The existing phone wiring is isolated from the street, by the way. Am I reversing polarity by back feeding this way, or ?
