I wanted to do a DIY solar outdoor light project and I was wondering about a specific issue.
I upgraded my bathroom outlets recently. I noticed that after the work, I do not have power from these outlets. These outlets are protected by GFCI from the garage.
We woke up with no power in the bedroom and one wall of another room. We checked circuit breakers and all are live and getting power.
While trying to hang a picture on the wall, thanks to the malfunctioning cable finder, the nail went through a power cable. After a cracking sound the breaker tripped. Removed the nail and than the board. There is a blackened hole on the live side of the cable but the wire inside is intact.

During National Electrical Safety Month in May, Dave at Ask The Electrician is encouraging homeowners to eliminate electrical safety hazards in and around their home. Electrical hazards can result in property damage, potential injuries and even deadly electrocutions.
