Question: I own a 1960s home with a 100 amp service panel. Behind the house is a detached guest house. There is a 40 amp 220 feed going from the main panel to a sub panel outside the guest house. They used number 8 wire in metal conduit through the attic going into the ground.

I upgraded my bathroom outlets recently. I noticed that after the work, I do not have power from these outlets. These outlets are protected by GFCI from the garage.

While trying to hang a picture on the wall, thanks to the malfunctioning cable finder, the nail went through a power cable. After a cracking sound the breaker tripped. Removed the nail and than the board. There is a blackened hole on the live side of the cable but the wire inside is intact.

Electrical Question : We presently have a ceiling fan that is operated by two wall switches, one for fan, the other for light. We have purchased a replacement fan w/light that has a receiver for fan canopy and remote wall switch that has a buttons for fan,includes 2 speeds, light with dimmer.

Question: When I turn on my upstairs bedroom ceiling fan, the light inside of my dining room hutch goes on. The light switch on the hutch is a hidden switch in the door hinge…you just touch the door hinge to turn the lights off & on.

Question : Currently, over my workbench I have a pull chain incandescent light (14-2 wire). I would like to add 2 new single tube fluorescent fixtures on either side of the incandescent light.

Electrical Question : I have a gfi plug that is connected to the circuit breaker box. This is the main “reset” for the house. The house keeps getting these spots where the electric will go out and the gfi will kick in.

Question: Unfortunately, we are having to turn our air conditioners on already in the Midwest. I have two units, one for each level of my house. My unit downstairs will not turn on. I checked the fuse outside and swapped it with the upstairs unit and it still did not work.
