Circuit Wiring for a 240 Volt Electric Dryer
[ad#block]Question: I have an old home with old electrical wiring. The power outlet for Dryer is 3 wire. I got a used Maytag Neptune dryer with a 4 wire cord. What do you think is better: to replace the wire cord of the dryer for a three wire cord or to replace the outlet for a 4-wire outlet? Is it possible to replace the old 3 wire outlet for a 4 wire outlet since it is an old wire home (1983)

Electrical Wiring for a Dryer
If the electrical wiring is old as mentioned, then I highly recommend installing a new 4-wire dryer circuit which will be much safer than the old existing 3-wire circuit.
