How Can I install a Combo Switch and Outlet? Wiring a Combination Switch, Combo 3Way Switch Wiring, Switches and White Wires.

• I have a new Leviton Decora 5645-A combination 3-way switch and grounding receptacle that I want to install at the end of the line.
• One light is located in the middle and the power is coming into the 3-way switch at beginning of line.
• A 3 wire cable is installed between the twp three way switches and a light, 2 wire power in.
• How do I get continues power to the receptacle at the end of the line and still have 3-way switch?

How to Wire a Leviton Combination Switch Outlet

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced – Best performed by a Licensed Electrician.
Tools Required: Basic Electricians Pouch Hand Tools and a Voltage Tester.
Estimated Time: Depends on personal level experience, ability to work with tools and install electrical circuit wiring.
Precaution: Identify the outlet circuit, turn it OFF and Tag it with a Note before working with the wiring.

• Wiring a Combination Switch
  A combination switch outlet may not be installed at the location where it is the end of the three way switch wiring because there is no neutral wire present.
• Combo 3Way Switch Wiring
  The combination switch outlet may be installed at the beginning of the three way switch location where the hot, neutral and ground wires are available.
• Switches and White Wires
  You must keep in mind that switching does not involve a neutral wire, and just because a White Wire is present and used for switching does not mean that the white wire is a neutral wire, but in fact is most likely a white wire that is being used to as a switched power leg.
