Guide to HDMI and AV Cable Connections
Electrical Question: I have recently bit the bullet and brought a LED LCD HDTV to replace my ancient CRT.
However, with a combination of the following:
- Flat Screen TV – LED (Samsung) – TV LED TV.
- Home Theater system (Samsung) – Surround Sound System.
- Media player (Western Digital) and – Media Receiver and Player.
- Hard drive recorder (Panasonic) – HDD Media Recorder.
I am at a lost to what wires and which HDMI cable should feed into which items, in what order.
- I’ve played with a few scenario’s and keep finding that either the Home Theater does not pick up the sound with when the Media Player or HDD Recorder, or I have to switch on the HDD Recorder to use the Media Player which plays back on the TV speakers, but not the Home Theater system.
Please help.

- HDMI is typically used to connect a high-definition device such as a HD DVR to a HDTV.
- To make the connection, you simply put one end of the cable into the HDTV’s HDMI input slot and the other end into the device’s HDMI output slot. Just one cable and you’re all set.
