Electrical Question from Bert about installing a switch on his water pump
[ad#block]Question: How do I hook up a switch to a water pump to turn it on and off with out plugging out the pump.

Dave’s Reply: Thanks for your electrical question.
Hi Bert – Determine the location where you would like the switch. Wire the line through a switch. If this is in a outdoor location then water proof electrical materials will need to be installed.
OPTIONAL: If you would like to control the pump from virtually any location and have the ability to have it totally automated then install an X-10 Outlet Module into a water proof outlet box and cover. Set the device codes. Now you have several  options for operating this device including a X-10 Wall Switch, a hand-held remote control or you can set the X-10 outlet up in a program that controls it automatically! X-10 devices save time and money. Make sure that any outdoor X-10 devices are in Water Resistant Enclosures and that GFCI Protection is installed where required.

NOTE: X-10 devices can be used for just about anything! I use these devices to automate my home lighting and much more. The system can be set up to monitor any area of your home and view it remotely, even over the internet if you wish. If you’re on vacation in France and you want to see who is at your gate or front door, no problem! All the technology and devices are in place, they just need to be installed.
