Wiring a Switch for a Light Fixture
[ad#block]Question: I got my incoming power romex 14/2c, and two other 14/2c coming into my octagon box which is for a bed lamp. One 14/2c goes to the next bed lamp, the third 14/2c goes to my device box, a 2 gang switch which is controlling a fluorescent fixture. How should I wire this up? Is a switch leg involved? Or do I just match the black to black conductors together and white to white conductors together in the octagon box?

The Safest Way to Test Electrical Devices and Identify Electric Wires! The Non-Contact Electrical TesterThis is a testing tool that I have had in my personal electrical tool pouch for years, and is the first test tool I grab to help identify electrical wiring. It is a Non-contact tester that I use to easily Detect Voltage in Cables, Cords, Circuit Breakers, Lighting Fixtures, Switches, Outlets and Wires. Can I install a light fixture made in China with a light bulb labeled 220/240 40 watt to replace a 110 fixture?
Hi Marie,
If the light fixture uses a standard incandescent light bulb then the fixture should work fine, however the light bulb should be replaced with a 20 watt 120 volt incandescent light bulb. The light fixture bulb size is limited to the size of the fixture wires and the voltage that will be used.
I hope this helps,
Dave
