[ad#block]Electrical Question: How do I wire a three wire range cord when I there is a four wire receptacle on the wall?
- I just bought a used Whirlpool 465 electric range and it has a three wire pigtail cord installed and I have a four wire receptacle on the wall. I have the 4 wire pigtail cord.
- I know that the red wire attaches to the to other red wire and the black wire attaches to the other black wire, but should the white wire be on the neutral and ground to screw on frame, right?

Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate – Best if wired by a Licensed Electrical Contractor.
Tools Required: Basic Electricians Pouch Hand Tools and a Voltage Tester.
Estimated Time: Depends on personal level experience, ability to work with tools and the available access to the range cord electrical connection box.
Precaution: Identify the range circuit, turn it OFF and Tag it with a Note before working with the range cord wiring.
