Making the Electric Wire Connections for a Dishwasher

Dishwasher Junction Box Wiring and Circuit Cable or Cord

The circuit cable or electric cord must be brought into the dishwasher junction box through the provided half inch opening which is first fitted with a connector which will protect and secure the wiring. All wiring connections must be made within the junction box of the dishwasher and then the junction box cover plate must be installed. Wiring connections are best made using twist on insulated wire connectors. ELECTRICAL TIP: Typically the Orange or Yellow size wire connectors work best.

  1. Dave Rongey says:

    Hi Kyle,
Home electrical wiring includes a ground wire which is typically a green or bare copper wire. If the wiring is located inside a metal box then the ground wire should be attached to the box with a green grounding screw. If you cannot locate the ground wire you may want to contact your electrician and ask him where the circuit ground wire is.
    Be safe,

The electrician wired my dishwasher, which is on its own circuit and GFCI. The wires are black, white and red. Which is the ground wire?
