I recently bought some replacement GU10 potlight bulbs that are LEDs to replace halogen bulbs. I bought them on eBay and were assured that they will work with 120V – 240V but once I received them, the markings says 240V….

I bought them on eBay and were assured that they will work with 120V – 240V but once I received them, the markings says 240V. Will these really work as 120V – 240V or did they sell me the wrong voltage bulbs? Is it safe to insert them into my 120V potlight fixtures? Thanks in advance.

Getting The Right LED Light Bulbs
Dave, I would email the seller to get the exact voltage specifications to make sure these LED light bulbs are going to work properly for your potlights. Some of the newer electronic power supplies for the energy efficient lamps may be rated for dual voltage or 120 volts and 240 volts, however I would feel safe having that specification or documentation to know for sure.

The power supply must provide the proper voltage output as required for the specific lamps that will be installed. The power supply must also be rated for about 25% more than the total combined watts of the circuit. The wiring used for the lighting project must also be properly rated for the circuit load as well.
