Cause Of Most Dead Wall Sockets and Outlets
[ad#block] Electrical Troubleshooting Question:
We were probably running too many things at once, and when we plugged in the vacuum cleaner, all the sockets that are tied in to that one went dead. We inspected the circuit breaker and it was fine, we even reset all the breakers just to make sure. Still none of the electrical sockets tied in together are working, though the circuit breaker is OK.

The Reason Why Most Wall Sockets and Wall Outlets Are Not Working
Well Gary, that’s what happens when you decide to clean the house! In all seriousness, you did not have too many things on at one time, otherwise you would have tripped the circuit breaker. So what the problem is most likely at the socket or outlet that you have plugged the vacuum cleaner into. The circuit for the wall outlet will need to be shut off and the outlet will need to be removed and inspected. Nine times out of ten a burnt connection will be found and usually it will be the white neutral wire splice or connection to the outlet socket. The burnt wire and connections will need to be repaired using the right size wire and wire connectors. If the problem is not at that wall outlet then inspect the other nearest outlets or sockets until you find the problem.
