Electrical Question from Lester about a 240 Volt Air Conditioner Circuit
Background: Lester, a Homeowner from Belleville, Michigan
Question: My air conditioner circuit breaker keeps tripping. Could the red and black wires be reversed? What is the correct orientation of the wires.
Thanks for your electrical question Lester. No the wires are not reversed. With a home 240 volt circuit either configuration works. If the circuit is tripping off then the problem needs to be identified. Have a Air Conditioning Service Technician come out and check the unit. The compressor unit should be checked. The AC technician will connect their gauges and check refrigerant levels and use a clamp on amp meter to check the amperage load of the unit.
