Do Not Take Chances With Questionable Wiring
[ad#block] I have a electrical panel and off of the panel is a “relay box”.
- When I open the relay box all that is in it is wires splitting into numerous wires.
- On the side, is what looks like fuses with wires running out of them.
- What is this set-up? and What is its purpose?
This electrical question came from: Jeffrey, a Homeowner from Cromwell,CT
Thanks for your electrical question Jeffrey.
Jeffery, without seeing exactly what you have described I can only speculate that this is an enclosure that was used for a special purpose relay setup that may have stopped working or the design was not correct. From the information that you have provided I would highly recommend that you have a qualified electrical contractor identify the wiring and make necessary corrections. This may be what is known in technical lingo as a Hodge-Podge which means it may need the attention of an expert because it was installed by a novice. Having discovered this I would highly recommend that your home have an electrical inspection as well, and that smoke detectors be installed and fully functional.
