Electrical Question from Scott about Ceiling Fan Wiring
[ad#block]Question: I am trying to install a fan with lights and fan but it only has a black ,white and ground coming from the fan. It had a remote that I don’t have but I bought a universal remote control to hook up but don’t know what to do with the red wire coming from the remote unit that says light on it. I wired it into the black but it didn’t work. The fan works fine but no light. Can you advise?
Thanks for your electrical question Scott. If your fan does not have a light installed with it then just cap off the red wire and make your connections for the fan motor only and you should be set.
