Don’t Take Chances With Incorrect Electrical Wiring
[ad#block]Electrical Question: I have a lighting switch that is wired with the hot supply wire and a neutral wire.
There is an electrical junction box in the ceiling that the electrician can’t get to easily to change this.
Can I leave the switch as it is wired to the neutral? Is there any danger?

How to Detect and Repair of Incorrect Electrical Wiring
- If the electrical wiring on the switch is incorrect then it is best to remove the electrical wiring from the switch and place wire connectors over the ends of the wires to insulate them.
- A blank cover can then be placed over the electrical box.
- Keep in mind that light switches do not use a “neutral wire”, however a “white wire” may be used as a power wire or switched leg leg of power as long as it is identified with black electrical tape or a permanent black marker.
- It would be best to have your qualified electrical contractor that is working with this wiring situation take care of this for you.
