A Full Understanding Is Essential For Any Electrical DIY Project
[ad#block]Question: I’m switching out outlets in bathroom. I have an in line pair. I switched out the last in the line and everything worked fine. When I went to switch out the first one in the line, I lost all power. It had three wires coming into it. One I assume is the hot, one is for connecting to the other one in the line. I’m not sure what the third one is for unless there is another in the line – probably in the bedroom. I checked breakers and they are fine. I tested the wiring with a multimeter and I am not getting any power any of the combo’s of wires in that box.

Thanks for your electrical question Brad.
Brad, it sounds like your assuming too much. My advice is never assume anything. Identify all of the wiring and have a total understanding about what you are doing. If you are not sure about any part of this electrical project, then hire a licensed electrician and don’t take chances.
