Heater with a Remote Control Unit that Stops Working
[ad#block]Question: I have a Dimplex heating unit in my home office. It has a remote device for on and off operation.

  1. The remote works for a short period of time and then stops operation.
  2. The company has replaced the unit 4 times and the problem persists.
  3. I note that the cord from the outlet is extremely hot.
  4. The customer service at Dimplex states that the remote is heat sensitive, which is probably the causing the remote to malfunction.

Question: why is this happening from a standard outlet and is there a way of correcting the problem?

  1. Silvano says:

The Dimplex heater I have is installed against a wall. The problem is the wall aginst which the heater is attached heats up very substantially after a few minutes it has been on. Is this dangerous? It seems so.

    Thank you.

  2. Dave Rongey says:

Silvano, check with the installation instructions or owners manual which should give detailed information about the proximity to walls and other objects. As you have stated, the wall should not get dangerously hot so I would definitely make sure the heater has been installed correctly.
