Power Supply for a Air Jet Massage Bathtub
Electrical Circuit requirements and the GFCI Protection for Hydro Massage and Air Jet Bathtubs
Providing Safe Power for an Air Jet Bathtub
[ad#block]Question: I am in the process of installing a new slipper tub in my bath.
The blower with the unit is an air blower (not a pump) and it is rated at 400 watts.
Am I correct in assuming that I do not need a dedicated circuit since this is 4 amps and can be wired into a simple lighting circuit?
This electrical question came from: Steve, a Homeowner from Springfield, Virginia.
Thanks for your electrical question Steve.
GFCI Protection for Hydro Massage and Air Jet Bathtubs
- Due to the low amount of power that is required for the air jet slipper bathtub you are not required to install a dedicated circuit.
- The outlet or circuit that will be providing the power must be protected by a GFCI device.
- Some air jet bathtubs have a built in heater so a dedicated circuit may be required depending on the required amperage for the heater unit.
- Always consult the manufacturers installation manual for the model you have purchased for detailed circuit requirements.
