Considerations for Positioning Xenon Under Cabinet Lighting
[ad#block]Question: When installing xenon under cabinet lighting strips which way should they be installed, at the front of the cabinet with the slanted glass facing back toward the back splash or at the back of the cabinet with the slanted glass facing toward the front of the cabinet.

Greg, this is a great question, and one that should be discussed and considered with the homeowner, and here is why: The type of light that will be produced by any under cabinet light with be greatly influenced by the type of counter top, the material used for the back splash, what will be placed on the counter top and most of all, what type of look and level of lighting does the homeowner desire.
Xenon Under Cabinet Lights as Wall Wash Accent Lighting
Positioning the xenon lights back towards the wall will wash the wall and back splash and will enhance the look. for example a full back splash that is slate that is installed above a granite counter top will have a totally different appearance which may be more decorative and serve as accent lighting.
Xenon Under Cabinet Lights as Functional Task Lighting
Positioning the xenon lights more towards the front of the cabinet towards the face trim will serve more as functional task lighting and the backslash will not be illuminated less.
Xenon Under Cabinet Lights for a Full Effect
Positioning the xenon lights in the center area of the cabinet will serve as both functional and still produce a good level of illuminated wall wash accent light.
