Installing an Outdoor GFCI Receptacle
Weatherproof GFCI Outlet Box: I am installing a GFCI receptacle on the outside of my home, the receptacle box cannot be recessed.
Electrical Wiring for a GFCI
Electrical Question: I am installing a GFCI receptacle on the outside of my home. The house is solid stone so the receptacle box cannot be recessed into the home. Is there a complete weatherproof GFCI box to house the GFCI receptacle made to surface mount on the wall?
Also with this the wire will be coming from out the corner of a basement window exposed for about 6-12″ to the GFCI receptacle. Since it will be exposed, can I still use NM Romex wire (14-2 for a 20 amp) with a metal conduit to protect the wire?

Thanks for your electrical question Michael.
Weatherproof GFCI Outlet Box
- There are single gang weather proof boxes that can be anchored to the stone wall using a masonry drill bit and plastic anchor.
- Conduit either consisting of PVC or EMT can be used to protect the wiring having a male connector and insulated plastic bushing placed on the open end which would protect the Type-NM cable that is installed.
- The Romex wire sheath should be removed from the portion of wire that is just past the entry of the conduit.
- The GFI receptacle and weatherproof cover will finish off the project along with installing conduit straps to anchor the conduit.
