I am re-wiring a home phone with multiple phone jacks ( 3 to 4 jacks ). Do I need to run wiring to each jack seperately or can I run 1 line to one jack, then continue to the next jack and so on ? ( Like running electric outlets would be wired )
Great question Neil,
You may run one wire and loop through to all of the telephone jack locations. A separate cable to each is not required.
When making your connections, don’t even cut the wire, just strip off the outer jacket and insulation from the pair that will be attached to the jack. This takes a little practice, but with a good pair of wire strippers it is possible.

I’m trying to wire my telephone jack. The wire colors are red, yellow, black, green. Which ones do I wire together?
Hi Lisa,
A typical phone jack only requires two wires for the phone to work, and from the wires you have described you should only need to connect the red wire and the green wire to the phone jack.
Please see the following Phone Jack Wiring Diagram.
I hope this helps,
