Electrical Question: How should I install two 220 Volt Receptacles that require two Individual Power Sources?
My electrical wiring project involves Wiring a New Circuit for 220Volt Outlets.
- I need to install two 220 Volt receptacles. This is for two individual Power sources. Each Power source is 50 Amps at 3000w AC to DC converter. The run is approximately 75 feet. Can I run them off the same sub junction box with only one run. I plan to connect the outlets near the box so that I can plug these power units to them. But I did not know if this would be safe. Finding an answer to this question has been difficult and it appears that no one has been able to adequately give a description or definition to the question. Because it 75 feet I will be using number six wire and upgrading the main breakers so that the cell junction box is still below the main. Anyway any information you can part with it be greatly appreciated and put to good use.

Electrical Safety: Identify the electrical power source to the outlets, turn it OFF and Tag with a Note before working with the electrical wiring.

Option #1: Install Two Dedicated 220 Volt Circuits
Identify the electrical requirements for the equipment that will be connected and install two separate circuits.
Option #2: Install a Sub Panel
Calculate the total connected load for both of the equipment receptacles and install a sub panel to the area near the location of the equipment with the panel feeder rated for at least the total connected load for both receptacles. Next, install two separate circuits to each equipment receptacle.
It is important to have proper circuit overload protection for the equipment that will be connected to the receptacles.
NOTE: The 10 foot tap rule may apply, however this will depend upon your specific project and application.
