Electrical Circuit Installation for a Sauna
Electrical Question: I’m wiring a Helo 6000 watt sauna heater(240V)in a free standing sauna in a finished basement.
It draws 25A so I’m using 8/2 Romex with a 40A breaker.
A separate neutral required per the manufacturer.
A standard Halex connector will be used from the 200A panel to the sauna.
- The basement has a suspended ceiling and 2×4 walls with sheet rock on the perimeter.
- As far as I know, the wire to the sauna above the ceiling should be fine running along the sill(will run next to existing wire stapled every 48″).
- Does this require any sort of disconnect before going into the sauna? Is a J-box a good way to go anyways?
- What is required per code to get the wire from above the suspended ceiling to the top plate of the sauna wall?
- Should the wire be run down the wall and through it to get to the sauna wall or can you drop through the ceiling tile(or remove a tile) with a short piece of NM conduit?
- I am also running a 14/2 from an existing light to power a single light in the sauna.
- This will enter in the same place as the 8/2. What’s the correct way to do all of this.
