Home Electrical Voltage Power Quality
Background: Victor, a Homeowner from Edinburg, Tx
[ad#block]Question: I am seeing a good amount of Voltage flux or drops on basically every outlet that i check in my house. 5yr old house. I am trying to figure what it could be… voltage drops down to 108 or less at times…. I am including a pdf report off of a Fluke 1710 recorder. I am pretty concerned because I have seen my AV equip reset once or twice because of this. can you take a look and tell me what you think?
Dave’s Reply:
Thanks for your electrical question Victor. Thank you for the detailed pdf report. Normally most electrical utility companies deliver a nominal 120 volt service within a -5% +5%Â which is within the NEMA standard of -10% +1`10%. Electrical loads on the line can cause dips and spikes as well as noise which can affect the line voltage and power quality. It is always advised to connect sensitive electronic devices into surge protective power strips which will help to stabilize the voltage being supplied to these devices.
