How to Install New Wiring in a Older Home
[ad#block]Electrical Question: I am doing a total rewire on a older home. Can I run the wire in the 3′ crawl space instead of crawling around in the attic full of insulation? It is damp as crawl spaces are, but not wet, I would hang the wires on the floor joists. It would be easier than the attic, other than the light circuits would still be in the attic.

Upgrading Older Home Circuit Wiring
- Reed, it is very common to install electrical circuit wiring in the crawl spaces of a home as long as it is done according to all the applicable electrical codes, with a permit and then inspections.
- If the crawl area becomes too moist then UF type cable may be required or it may be possible to install an approved moisture barrier which may also prevent wood deterioration or mildew problems.
