Electrical Question from Todd about Home Wiring
When upgrading home electrical wiring you must compare your existing home with the current electrical code requirements
Upgrading Home Electrical Wiring
Electrical Question: Dave, I am looking to buy a home that is older and is running on a 60 amp system w/ fuses. To get it to a 100 or 200 amp system with breakers, do I also need to contract the wall wiring?
Thanks for your electrical question.
How to Upgrade Home Electrical Wiring
When upgrading home electrical wiring you must compare your existing home with the current electrical code requirements. Safety devices such as GFCI Protection and Smoke Detectors are a must. Upgrading your main electrical service to 200 amps is always advisable. Local building departments will help guide you in order to conform to your local codes, what is permissible as a home owner and what will need to be contracted to a professional electrician.
