Electrical Question about Wiring an Outdoor Pole Light Fixture
would be OK to use in-house wiring from the GFI to the light on the pole…
Electrical Question from Richard about Wire Type for Outdoor Wiring
Background: Richard, a Homeowner from Milford Ma.
Question: I am changing an outside pole light. The existing wire is underground. I am installing a GFI and I was wondering if it would be OK to use in-house wiring from the GFI to the light on the pole. The GFI will be connected to the underground wiring the from the GFI load to the light.
Thanks for your electrical question Richard. Please use Type UF or Dirct Burial Cable otherwise the in-house wiring will eventually get damaged either by the elements, a gopher, etc. More detailed information can be found here in this website.
